Well, it's the end of the school year so busy and behind as usual! I was busy at work, went on some hikes and a trip to Oregon to visit Julie, the Jenkins and the Reaves and spent a week in DC with Jay. In DC I was mostly working, but I did get to visit some cool things that should warrant their own post. In the interest of catching up, we went to the Open House for the European Union embassies, road bikes to Old Town Alexandria, saw a great classical guitar concert, had dinner two nights with Mike and Susannah, dinner with Dan, the National Zoo and Mt Vernon! Jay got home on Memorial day weekend which was very exciting!
This is a great place to camp! As long as you pay attention to the weather forecast and tides. Very easy backpacking...only a mile or so! I love the Olympic Coast! Wildlife spotted: various birds including eagles, sea lions, porpoise, bear tracks (!) and chipmunk.
Typically for June, it's been cloudy...but it's also been COLD and WET. But not today! For at least a day, summer showed up, just in time for a camping and hiking trip to Mt St Helens. Volcano love! This hike has AMAZING views and isn't too hard, although if you go off the Boundary Trail and down into the Truman trail it's a bit hard to follow at times!
