The East Coast

I've been on the East Coast for a week for Bowdoin Bound, in Boston and Maine. In my two trips to Maine it seems very cultural similar to the Northwest, but it still has an East Coast feel.

I've been thinking about the difference between the East and West coast, partly because people constantly talk about it being "so different". I sort of agree with this, but it's also hard to categorize an entire coast and make generalizations.

I would summarize by saying in the East everything is more intense. Everything moves a bit more aggessively and competitively, everything is stepped up a notch. This seems to hold true for everything: traffic, college searches, education, sightseeing, even slums seem more intense.
