Piriu is the name of the building where everyone on the project lives for the month and does their lab work. The house where they live and cook is above, and the lab below.

Everyone on the team (including me when I'm there), takes turns cooking. Normally, you get to choose what you'd like to cook. However, on my night, I was told that I would be cooking sanglier (wild boar) that we had received as a gift! Having no clue how to roast wild boar, it was an adventure, but it worked out fine and actually it was DELICIOUS!

From Piriu we can walk down to the river to swim...
The closest large town is Calvi (about 45 minutes away)...every Saturday the students get to go in to town for their day off. This is also where we normally arrive and depart on the ferry from Nice. Here's the approach the day I arrived, which was very windy out in the Mediterranean.

The nearest village to Piriu is Galeria, the closest place to the coast (about 20 minutes away).

Sylvain's parents live near Calvi and they have this awesome swimming pool! They always welcome us to come for a swim. They are still working on building their house, but Sylvain's father made sure to finish the pool before he even started building the house. :-) Every year in addition to swimming we get to check out the progress on the house...which is coming along! They have a great view.
